Capturing one of my Favorite Families in the DMV

There are stories that unfold in chapters… and then there are stories you get to grow with. This family is one of those stories for me.

I first met them when it was just the two of them—married, full of laughter, the kind that lingers in the air a little longer than expected. Back then, our sessions felt like the beginning of something, though none of us quite knew just how beautiful that “something” would become. Then came the glow of anticipation—her pregnancy, soft and radiant, carrying not just a baby, but a whole new rhythm of life. And now, here we are… mom, dad, and their son, walking through City Center like a living, breathing love story.

City Center gave us the perfect canvas—clean lines, soft light bouncing off glass, little pockets of calm tucked between the movement of the city. But truthfully, they didn’t need much. They brought their own magic. The way he reached for his mom’s hand without thinking. The quiet glances between mom and dad that say we made this life together. The laughter that comes easily because it’s been built over years, not just moments.

Photographing them doesn’t feel like work—it feels like witnessing. Like being invited into something sacred and real. Every session holds echoes of the last: a familiar smile, a shared joke, a rhythm I’ve come to recognize. And yet, each time, there’s something new—growth, deeper connection, a little more life layered into their story.

To watch a family evolve in front of your lens is a quiet kind of honor. It’s not just about capturing milestones—it’s about holding onto the in-between moments, the ones that might otherwise slip away. The way time moves, gently but surely, shaping everything.

And somehow, through it all, I’m still here with them—camera in hand, heart full—grateful to document not just who they are, but who they’re becoming.

Some stories you tell once.

And some… you get to tell again and again.
